Police enforces ban on drunk driving

December 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

In San Diego, law enforcement agencies will impose a crackdown on drunk drivers for 18 days as they plan to set up DUI checkpoints to lessen the cases of car accidents related to alcohol.

The agency will also conduct more patrols around the state to help prevent car accidents.  It will be implemented on January 3.  At least 300 DUI checkpoints will be placed on various sites for the entire period.

The program will deal primarily with teenage drivers, who have become victims or fatalities in many car accidents recently.  Police will reprimand teenagers who violates curfew, have unauthorized passengers and those who are using the cell phones while they are behind the wheels.

Implementing this program can help reduce the number of casualties in car accidents every year as drunk driving cases are relatively high during the holiday season.

Motorists must be reminded that it is not safe to drive when someone is intoxicated because his attention is hampered.  In addition to this, drivers should be wearing seatbelts when they drive to lessen the intensity of injuries during impact in a car accident.

Similarly, calling someone or sending text messages can distract motorists from driving—even if it is just for a split second.  These are causes of car accidents that happen in the US and are considered as negligent actions of drivers that often have tragic consequences.

10 People Injured In Anaheim Car Accident this Weekend

December 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Up to ten people, including an infant, were injured in a collision between a truck and an SUV in Anaheim this weekend.

Fortunately, no one sustained any life-threatening injuries from the car accident.

Initial reports show that the collision was connected to the recent rain that hit the town.

Although the weather may have contributed in the car accident, it is very likely that it was caused by negligence by either or both drivers.

If one of them was travelling at an unsafe speed while on a rain slicked road, it might have caused that one driver to lose control and slam into the other.

In either case, the passengers of both vehicles can file a personal injury claim against both drivers.

If ever it turns out that only one driver was liable for the car accident then the passengers can just pull out their claim against the other driver and focus their resources on the liable party.

In any case, the services of a car accident attorney would be invaluable if they want to succeed in their claim.

Icy Roads Lead to Car Disaster

December 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It is riskier to drive on wet or icy road conditions.  In Brownsville, a 48 year-old man loss his life when his car became out of control on an icy road and it collided with a tree.

His 1993 Jaguar did not fare well on the slippery road.  He even tried to take control and turned to the right but the vehicle rotated clockwise.  The impact was on the side of the driver and he was not wearing a seatbelt.  He might be driving too fast and also was intoxicated with alcohol.

Motorists should drive slowly when roads are wet or icy which become more slippery compared to dry roads.  If someone is involved in accidents, the paramedics should be contacted immediately.  The injuries may result to death if not treated right away.  It is not safe to move the body of the injured because that might worsen it.

The police and car insurance agent must be called.  The victim may take pictures of the accident.  The contact numbers of victims and witnesses should be collected.  This information will be used during the investigation of the matter and when the victim will want to file a claim.

Drag Racing Killed Teenager

December 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Drag racing is an illegal, albeit popular, sport for many young people today.  However, car racing is not safe when it is not staged in the proper venue, resulting in drivers hitting innocent passengers.  In October, two men who were believed to be participants in a drag racing had killed a young woman.

Joseph Inocencio, 19, was driving his BMW at 91 mph.  Emmanuel Pourmand, 21, was running at 76 mph on the road.  They hit the woman’s car when both men lose control of their cars.    The woman’s car collided with a center divide and a tree.  She did not survive the car accident and died.  She was with her friend who only had injuries.

The negligent parties were charged with vehicular manslaughter.  If they are convicted the penalty for Pourmand is nine years in jail while Inocencio will be placed behind bars for six years and eight months.

Victims are entitled to claim compensation for the damages sustained in car accidents, which include medical expenses, property damage, salary lost, pain and suffering.  They can hire a good lawyer who will handle their case and will guide them all throughout.  He has to specialize in car accidents.  He has to win several cases before.  When they win the case, the negligent party will be mandated by law to pay the victims who suffered from the accident.

Staying Focus on the Road when Driving

December 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

For a young boy, riding a bicycle in the streets may be dangerous especially during an accident like a car collision.  In Anaheim, a young boy was in the same situation when he was hit by a Ford 250 pickup truck.  He died from the impact.

He was riding his red bike from school and was on his way home when all of a sudden the truck driver did not saw him and accidentally hit him.  He was wearing a helmet but still it did not saved him from dying.

Most of the time bikes are the ones involved in children’s accidents that result to either injuries or death.  A lot of children ride bikes between the age of five and 14 years old.  In 2002, there were 288,900 children who were injured from bike accidents.

Drivers should be more careful when they are driving.  They should be aware of what is going on when they are on the road because might not see a pedestrian crossing or riding a bike on the road.

They should not use the cell phone or do other distracting actions that may take their attention away from the road.  Several seconds is already a big deal because anything can happen in those moments.
