Too Many People, Trucks, Cars and Too many big rig accidents

A local soccer referee and professional engineer, Hans Rudolph Beyeler, 56, was killed after his car was involved in 210 Freeway Big Rig Accident .  The accident happened, Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Interstate 210 near La Tuna Canyon Road.

Beyeler was traveling eastbound when for unknown reason his car veered into the right shoulder and slammed into the trailer of a disabled big-rig, according to the California Highway Patrol Altadena station’s officer, Ed Jacobs.

In the initial investigation made, it was found that earlier on, the big-rig had pulled over to the right shoulder of the freeway and was parked and had set out safety reflectors and reportedly was waiting for assistance when suddenly, without moment warning, Beyeler’s 2007 Mazda slammed and collided into the trailer.

As of this date, the cause of the collision was not yet known and still under investigation.  Interesting point to speculate that maybe, the big rig accident was caused by some mechanical malfunction of the Mazda or maybe due to the illegal parking of the tractor-trailer in a recovery zone.  To these, I surmise.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the Hans Rudolph Beyeler.

Although I do not know the details of this accident, but I must say that this event is indeed devastating, not only to the ones involved in the accident, but also to us people who are co-users of the freeway or roads in general.

This is something alarming considering that as to date, we are experiencing a huge increase in fatal freeway accidents.  There have been at least three big rig accidents at this exact stretch of the 210 (between La Tuna Canyon and Sunland Blvd Exits), where truckers frequently park their trucks on the shoulder with four people killed on the 10 over the weekend crashes.

I would advice Mr. Beyeler’s family, that whatever may be the reason or causes of the sullen big rig accident, they should consider hiring a qualified accident lawyer who has vast knowledge and trial experience handling cases involving big rig accidents.  By doing so, they can at least approximate the end of getting proper compensation for their losses.
