Negligent driving results to various consequences. It can lead to injuries, death, arrests, imprisonment or fine.

Driving under the influence is one violation that constantly besieges drivers. Subsequently, Elaine Bernard, former Genesis Group CEO, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence in an incident 3 years ago. Her refusal to submit to alcohol test even fueled her charges.

Consequently, Bernard was sentenced to 30 days imprisonment which would run simultaneously with her probation violation for an unrelated felony. Upon her release, Bernard would take DUI class and pay a fine of $2, 170.00.

DUI arrests are common to drivers despite constant reminders from authorities not to drive and drink. Drunk drivers constantly take the risk of being on the road thereby threatening the safety not only of themselves but that of others. No wonder, in California alone, 36% of fatalities were due to alcohol related incidents.

Victims of negligent drivers may claim for damages for the injuries sustained. A car accident lawyer could facilitate their case for better chances of winning or arriving at a fair settlement.
