More laws should be passed to control the growing number of accidents in the nation wherein alcohol and speeding is a factor.
An accident last Friday, has killed the 21-year-old driver who crashed her BMW Thursday onto a gas station.
Initial reports indicate that the woman, Sandra Mariana Velasquez Gonzalez of Orange County, was speeding on Main Street when she lost control of her vehicle after failing to negotiate a curb.
Gonzales then slammed onto the concrete posts designed to protect the gas pumps from explosion. She died at UCI Medical Center Friday afternoon from major injuries she sustained in the accident.
Authorities confirmed that speeding is a factor in the accident. They are also looking into the possibility that Gonzales could be drunk when the accident happened.
Speeding in itself is dangerous and when combined with alcohol, it could be deadly.
This incident once again proved the imminent danger posed by drunk driving. People who drive while intoxicated should be reminded of the risks involved in it.
Stricter laws on drunk driving should be implemented to avoid untoward injury to pedestrians and other motorists.
